Summer Reading Group: Esoteric Algorithms & Re-enchanted Technologies
Sessions on Tuesdays: June 17 & 24 and July 1 & 15 – 7 to 9 pm
Location: On the river in front of panke.gallery, Hof V, Gerichtstraße 23, 13347 Berlin
Join us for four sessions of our summer reading group exploring Esoteric Algorithms & Re-enchanted Technologies – a framework that embraces esoteric and embodied knowledge as tool to challenge dominant narratives of technological rationality, control and exclusion. We want to read texts on magical thinking, alternative techno-histories, and the politics of computation with a critical, feminist, materialist lens.
As the days grow long and warm, we’ll gather outside in the park or on the riverbank for a picnic-style reading group. We invite each participant to propose a text (book, publication, article) related to the themes of Esoteric Algorithms & Re-enchanted Technologies – something you have read or always wanted to read and would like to share with the group. Please select an excerpt (around 2-4 pages) that we can read and discuss together. Through this process, we’ll build a collective bibliography.
In our first meeting, we’ll start with two texts proposed by the curators, but we are looking forward to receiving your suggestions!

The reading group is part of the exhibition project Esoteric Algorithms & Re-enchanted Technologies, opening October 9 - November 1 2025 at panke.gallery, curated by Arianna Forte & Noemi Garay. There will be one more reading group session to be scheduled within the exhibition in October.
